9/11 Memorial recognizes unborn children killed
Unborn children who were killed with their mothers on 9/11/2001 are honored at the 911 Ground Zero Memorial. Some of the children memorialized were extremely small, in their first trimester of development. Patricia Massari had just found out that she was pregnant on the morning of 9/11/2001, just before she headed to work on the 98th floor of Tower One of the World Trade Center. Undoubtedly other 9/11 victims had not told others they were pregnant, or had not yet realized they were pregnant.
Some of the most pro-abortion politicians, such as former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, have attended the annual ceremonies where these unborn children are remembered with their mothers. In their speeches at these events, some of these politicians have even used the word “person” to refer to the children being memorialized. At one of these services, a boy read a poem saying “I was in my mom’s belly.” Others have said that the bond that God created in the mother’s womb can never be destroyed by hatred. Children have sung a song “Listen to my heartbeat,” emphasizing that children represent our future. Even when memorializing some of the men who were killed, such as Lee Fehling, mention is made of their unborn children, in an apparent effort to focus on the huge loss these children suffered through their father’s death.
In times of national distress, the concept that unborn children are persons is just common sense. Acknowledging the loss of these children is just basic human compassion. Yet most days throughout every year, more children are killed by abortionists than the total number of people who were killed on 9/11/2001. The Life Amendment can help our nation find a way out of this ongoing trauma. It all comes down to a very simple concept everyone, deep down, knows to be right: respecting the dignity of every person.
